When his girlfriend, Honey, sells a sculpture called “Cliff’s Soul” to an immoral Hollywood producer, Cliff is sure that his soul truly has been sold. So begins his journey from Boise to Hollywood, in search of his soul, driving in his most prized possession, a big black truck with the words “Lady Killer” in flaming letters down its side. Cliff isn’t the only one, however, who makes the trip from Boise to Hollywood in this darkly satirical novel that has been compared to the works of both Quentin Tarantino and Hunter S. Thompson. Cliff’s father who faked his death, a homeless man destined to rule the world, and a serial killer seeking fame and fortune through a pornographic pyramid scheme are just a few of the characters making the Boise-Hollywood trip in this hilarious and disturbing tale of lust, greed and redemption.
Half Ass Jig was first unleashed on Boise in 2002 as a comic strip in the Boise Weekly that was described as “graphic, disturbing and inappropriate.” Next, author, Chad Rinn and his wife, the award- winning filmmaker, Cecilia Rinn brought “Half Ass Jig”, an independent, no-budget movie, to the screen for sold out audiences in 2003. Now in 2004 the novel that inspired it all is finally available! And the rest of the country can find out what Boise has been raving about. Instead of asking “is the unexamined life worth living” you should be asking “is the Half Ass Jig worth dancing?”
